NUCLIO

NUCLIO,a non-profit NGO founded in 2001, drives innovation in education through interdisciplinary and inquiry-based learning, STEAM, and Universal Design for Learning (UDL). Its team of scientists, teachers, and researchers promotes active research, design thinking in schools, and cutting-edge technology in classrooms. Recognized by the Portuguese Ministry of Education as official training centre for professional development, NUCLIO trains educators in innovative, inclusive methodologies and real-world scientific research using robotic telescopes and data mining. NUCLIO coordinates the Galileo Teacher Training Program, one of the world’s largest astronomy education initiatives, endorsed by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) and UNESCO, having trained over 70,000 teachers in 120+ nations. It also leads the Portuguese Language Expertise Centre (PLOAD) for IAU, supporting innovation in Portuguese-speaking communities worldwide. Additionally, NUCLIO collaborates with COSPAR’s Education Panel, accessing top space research infrastructures. Through its global network, NUCLIO fosters best practices and builds an international community dedicated to educational innovation.

Role: NUCLIO with its long expertise will contribute in the implementation of training activities (WP5, Task Leader T5.2 and T5.6) while the team will mainly contribute to WP2 (based on the extended experience in openschooling and Living Labs methodology), to WP4 (by mobilizing the OSOS, the ESIA and GTTP communities). Will contribute as well in the development of material and best practices (WP3). Also, the participation of NUCLIO in the SYNAPSES Academy, will strongly support the development of the STEAM NEXT STEP Roadmap (WP6).
